Helen Turnipseed has agreed to coordinate our Block of the Month (BOM) this year.
Here is how our BOM works: No sign ups are necessary. Participation is voluntary. Making one block does not obligate you to do so in the following months. You may decide to make a block every month, or you may choose to only make one or two all year – whatever you choose to do is perfectly acceptable. Yes, you may make more than one block each month if you want to increase your chance of winning.
All the blocks are collected at the guild meeting by Helen Turnipseed. Each member making a block will receive one ticket per block made and a drawing will determine the winner. The winner takes home ALL the blocks made that month.
Please follow all the directions given each month. Size of block, pattern chosen, color scheme, embellishments…. Each person making the blocks will be hoping to win at some point during the year; the blocks should fit together nicely both in size and in color. That said, you are free to be as creative as you want to be with your blocks.
Helen has announced this month’s block. She wants us to make blocks using the pattern found at this site: http://quilting.about.com/od/blockofthemonth/ss/house_quilt.htm
She wants the houses to be earthy in color and said to be creative with your sky (sunny, stormy, sunrise/sunset…) This block is 12″ finished (12 1/2 inch unfinished!)
Remember: this block is due at the February meeting!
