October 26 Meeting
Our program for the October meeting will be our auction as we did last year. We
had so much fun we decided to do it again!
We will need members to donate new or gently used supplies for our auction.
Also, bring a friend!!!
We will fat quarters again as our currency but with a twist:
Single fat quarter
1/2 yard of fabric (to be counted as 2 fat quarters)
1 full yard of fabric (to be counted as 4 fat quarters)
So let’s get cleaning out those quilting rooms & declutter!!!
We had a wonderful Presentation about coloring on fabric Given to us by Carol Harris who is a member of the Cabarrus Quilt guild, we even had some fabric we could try out her techniques on our own. We used Crayons and colored pencils – no reason to buy super expensive ones. It was a really fun meeting and we learned how to add a little pizazz to our pieces useing easy to attain items.
Thanks Carol for a wonderful presentation!
Next Month we have Cindy From Quilters Gallery coming to do a trunk show and a workshop on Saturday which should be great as always!
After many Months of meeting Via Zoom and connecting through Facebook and online we had our first in Person meeting since early 2020 It was so nice to have a program with:
Pam Carter, owner of Just Sew Happy quilt shop
Just Sew Happy
3826 S. New Hope Road
Gastonia, SC 28056
Hours: Tuesday-Saturday 10:00am-4:00pm Closed Sunday &Monday
I was a lovely informative program showing some of the wonderful quilting tools she sells at her shop – I have not had time to visit yet but am looking forward to a visit.
It was wonderful to see everyone whom I have not seen in months and we had a great visiting time and some wonderful quilts shown during Show n Tell – Pictures have been posted on our Facebook page of all the show n tell including a huge group shot of everyone’s center bock for the round robin we are doing this year. It was just so wonderful to meet in person again!
We’ve all been waiting for a return to in-person meetings and they’re coming soon! Currently the plan is to return to in-person meetings in May at our normal location. We may be able (weather depending) on having an April in person meeting. We’re discussing doing a parking lot meeting, but that is not yet finalized.
In the meantime, we are still doing our zoom meetings, Jill our President sends out the e-mail invite to guild members in the week before the meeting so you have your log in information.
And we have our Facebook page Lake Norman Quilters where we post and keep connected as well.
I’m looking forward to seeing everyone IN PERSON later this spring and returning to meetings!!!!!!
In the meantime, keep quilting, let’s have LOTS of Show and Tell when we get back together!
What a year it’s been. I’m sure by now that we’re all missing our monthly guild meetings. Since I wasn’t able to attend the February meeting, it seems like forever to me!
But rest assured, your Executive Board is working on a way to keep us connected during these times.
We do have our Facebook group for those on facebook. (Lake Norman Quilters).
In an email to the guild earlier, it was mentioned that we could connect via Zoom meetings. If you’re interested in that, contact Marian.
The guild has also discussed socially distant parking lot get togethers in the lower parking lot of the church we use for meetings. We’ll keep you posted on that.
We are in search of a newsletter editor, contact Jill if you’re interested. Currently we use a specific software for the newsletter, but if you have a software you prefer (I use Word and save as PDF when I publish stuff) there is no requirement you use the software the prior editor used.
In projects, we still have our 2020 Finish It Up challenge. I plan to accept entries through June 30, 2020 so e-mail me your finishes. Also our Paint Chip Challenge is still on with a fall deadline. I can’t wait to see everyone’s!
But most importantly, stay safe! We (speaking on behalf of the executive board) miss seeing everyone’s smiling faces and what we’re all working on.
Our first meeting for 2020 is the annual business meeting to be held Tuesday, January 21. Come at 6:30 to socialize – the meeting begins at 7:00 PM at Centre Presbyterian Church, 129 Centre Church Road, Mooresville (at I-77 Exit 33.)
