2020 Update

What a year it’s been. I’m sure by now that we’re all missing our monthly guild meetings. Since I wasn’t able to attend the February meeting, it seems like forever to me!

But rest assured, your Executive Board is working on a way to keep us connected during these times.

We do have our Facebook group for those on facebook. (Lake Norman Quilters).

In an email to the guild earlier, it was mentioned that we could connect via Zoom meetings. If you’re interested in that, contact Marian.

The guild has also discussed socially distant parking lot get togethers in the lower parking lot of the church we use for meetings. We’ll keep you posted on that.

We are in search of a newsletter editor, contact Jill if you’re interested. Currently we use a specific software for the newsletter, but if you have a software you prefer (I use Word and save as PDF when I publish stuff) there is no requirement you use the software the prior editor used.

In projects, we still have our 2020 Finish It Up challenge. I plan to accept entries through June 30, 2020 so e-mail me your finishes. Also our Paint Chip Challenge is still on with a fall deadline. I can’t wait to see everyone’s!

But most importantly, stay safe! We (speaking on behalf of the executive board) miss seeing everyone’s smiling faces and what we’re all working on.

Happy Sewing,

Judy Whitehead

Just a little humor . . .

Legend has it… that a man parked this car, in the shade, while his wife was in the Quilt Shop.

May Program — Deb Karasik and Perfect Paper Piecing

Tuesday, May-28-2019

Deb started her real quilting passion in November of 2000, when she got a call from one of her daughters, saying she was pregnant with triplets. She picked up the quilting bug with a passion and joined her local quilt guild (the San Francisco Quilters Guild).

It was at the SFQG that she met Janet Mednick, who would later help her write a book for the American Quilters Society, called ‘QuiltMavens Perfect Paper Piecing’.

She has since written ‘Quilts With Attitude’, also published by AQS, and is currently working on her next book.

Now based in Durham, North Carolina, Deb is quilting, teaching and writing professionally, and her travels take her worldwide to share her passion for contemporary quilting, meeting new people, and sharing her knowledge with quilters everywhere.
